Russ and Joe Arrived Home - Haiti Trip Update

The travelers have returned!  We give thanks to the Lord for the opportunities that He provides us to be HIS hands and feet in this world.  The trip was very eventful as projects were completed and lives were touched with the love of Jesus.  Russ along with Pastor Garry Auguste were able to facilitate an Ancient Paths Seminar during this trip.  There were 30 participants in this seminar....the most ever in Haiti.  This was also the first seminar that the workbooks were completely in Haitian Creole.  Relationships are being healed and families are being strengthened through this anointed teaching.  Praise God for His awesome power at work in the lives of HIS children!

Update from Haiti

Russ and Joe arrived in Haiti without incident on Tuesday August 17th.  Facility repairs are being made all around the compound.  The Living in Faith container is now unloaded.  Praise the Lord!  The "Evangebox" and the diesel generator are a HUGE hit.  The school and church have been without power due to a problem in the power lines.  The diesel generator is working providing electricity to that entire portion of the compound.  There was a conference at the school on Saturday and the generator was working in the "boy’s" room with extension cord running to the cafeteria providing power for the conference.

Haitian evangelistic team may try to use the bed of a truck to haul the generator, "EvangeBox" and screen to each location, so they just have to pull the truck up and plug and play.  This will be a wonderful tool to reach people with the gospel message.

A surgical team arrived on Thursday to help with the medical cases.  All the medical surgeries have gone well except for one.   On Friday night, one woman was having problems with a hysterectomy surgery.  The doctors ran into a cancer and she began bleeding.  Much time was spent on controlling the bleeding.  She is AB negative and one staff member was the same type so there was a transfusion. Please keep her in prayer.

Russ visited the church in Droullard on Saturday.   This is a church that operates a water purification system (WPS)from LIF.  Pastor Destine was full of praise about the WPS.

Water meter read 194196 gallons!!!!  That is ALOT of water!!!  People are coming from far distances for water and the church is now full to the point they have a canopy set up in the front to shelter the people.  Praise God for this life sustaining blessing!

Pastor Arthur at Double Harvest plans to begin building the first of the $2000 houses that he is building for the Haitians who have lost their homes this week.  The homes might take more than 2 weeks to complete with limited Haitian labor and materials.  The houses are necessary… Russ says "I was looking at some of the sick houses and they are in sad shape with all of this rain."

Continue to lift up the team and the situation in Haiti up in prayer.  Russ and Joe are scheduled to return on August 28th.  Check back soon for more updates.

Living In Faith Container Arrives!

Praise the Lord for His grace and provision!!  The sea container that Living in Faith shipped at the end of June arrived safely at Double Harvest in Haiti.  This container will be staying in Haiti for Living in Faith ministry supply storage and possibly the beginnings of a building.  Continue to pray along with us for the Lord to reveal His will in every aspect of our ministry operations in Haiti.

Russ and a long time ministry friend will be traveling to Haiti on Tuesday, Aug 17th to help with supply distribution and organization.  The eye clinic and other work projects are also on the schedule for this trip.  They are planning to return on August 28th.  Please keep them in prayer.

More pictures and updates coming soon once Russ arrives in Haiti.

Haiti Update

God is moving in Haiti.  Construction projects are underway at various locations where we are working.

The Government clinic in Arcahaie where the second LIF eye clinic operates is growing.  LIF is now in a different building that backs up to the main clinic.  A major construction project is underway that will turn it into a hospital with 2 surgery rooms. Construction began a month ago. They now have a new generator and have power from 9 AM to 2 PM each day. The town currently has government power four hours a night for 2 nights per week…double from what they had before.  Seven pastors came while Russ was there to learn what we are doing.  We will make glasses for one of the pastors.  They all were interested in having remote clinics at their churches and schools.  Pray with us for discernment about what the Lord would have us do.

At Double Harvest construction has begun on the new wing of the medical clinic that includes the eye clinic and dental clinic.  The photos show some of the clinic construction at Double Harvest.  Heavy rain each afternoon makes living difficult for those people living in homes which are now tents. Mud is everywhere and everything is wet.

Russ has been busy in the eye clinic despite the heavy rains which has turned everything to mud.  They have been delivering eyeglasses and greatly improving vision.  One lady who had a cataract removed last month is now working, cleaning houses and cooking.  She now is able to earn a living again at 75 years old.  The photo above shows her praising the Lord for her renewed life.

The eye clinic has seen many eye infections and corneal ulcers.  Not all that come to the clinic are successful having their sight restored. Yesterday a young man came to the clinic who had cataracts in both eyes. He could only see light in-front of his eyes.  He also had glaucoma, high blood pressure, and one eye had a damaged cornea.  This young man, age 28, lost a leg in the earthquake. Join us in praying for this man who came seeking help.  Pray that he finds eternal help through a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
