Rain and Mud, but Cleansed by the Blood

The April outreach trip to Haiti began with rain, no electricity, no running water, and LOTS of mud, despite all of that....God's work was completedThe team of four were busy.

During the week long trip the team was able to:

  • Build and install three water systems...one at a clinic/hospital facility and two additional at orphanages that house over 50 children.
  • Work 3 days in the eye clinic..."Healing the Blind".
  • Preparations were made to our storage container in Haiti for insulation and siding (another step toward a complete building).
  • The surgical microscope was repaired so cataract surgeries can again be performed later in the year.
  • We were also able to visit the school in Le Roche where we installed a water system, chalkboards and helped with the building materials for the school in April 2011.  It was a blessing to see the school in session and to see the improvements to the property and facilities.  The "kitchen is now enclosed on three sides with concrete block walls and a corrugated metal roof.  The cooks are also using propane to cook the meals for the school children.
  • We made a trip to Canaan( an area that was given to the earthquake victims as a "promised land" by the Haitian Government).   There, we visited the house of a woman who was attacked in the tent village.  The Lord is blessing her with a new secure home on the top of a "hill" in Canaan.  Please pray with us for this family to be the "light on a hill" for Jesus.

Below are a few photos of the trip.

Eye Clinic expansion on March Haiti Trip

Our March outreach to Haiti opened the doors to establish two more eye clinics.

One will be located in one of the worst slums in Haiti.  A young resident from the area was recommended to us and has been trained to work in this clinic.  The Mennonite Church in Font Parisian, near the Dominican border, invited us to open an eye clinic in their medical facility.  This new location will serve many people in the far eastern part of Haiti.  We are looking forward to training and equipping the Haitian people so they can provide basic eye exams.  The staff from our main clinic will periodically travel to these clinics and address the more serious patients needing eyeglasses or surgery.  Pray for Living in Faith as we move ahead with these new locations.

It Takes a Team!

Below is an excerpt from the February newsletter that is now available for download on our website.

"It takes a team to do ministry!  Living in Faith is focused on specific areas so that we can minister exceptionally well.  The Vision for Christ program has been providing eyeglasses in Cuba and Haiti for many years.  Twelve years ago the Haitian President’s wife heard of our work in Cuba and invited Living In Faith to work in Haiti.  Over the years our reputation continues to grow!

Many of you reading this monthly letter are also part of our team.  Your prayers, gifts and talents have blessed many people in our neighboring countries.  Those who have traveled with us see firsthand the blessings that have been given and they too receive blessings.  Having hands-on experience is wonderful, yet what we all need to realize is that we are leaving a legacy when we return to our homes.  How many people have their lives improved with better vision and clean water?  How many families are restored through experiencing the Ancient Paths seminars?  How many people receive new life by seeing the Jesus video?  Churches have been started because of this ministry!  In 2012, we plan to greatly increase the number of lives we touch through better sight, clean water and evangelism.  The fields are ripe, so join us for the harvest!"

Back from Haiti -- Another successful trip

The Living in Faith team returned from Haiti safely after a busy week.  Three water purification systems were installed, over 30 new eyeglass prescriptions written, dozens of eyeglasses delivered, the gospel presented, and people encouraged.  This was a successful trip!!

The team, along with a few of our Haitian
friends and ministry partners, visited and encouraged a pastor and his congregation at their church.  It happened during a service that was held on the 2nd anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti that forever changed thousands of people's lives.  This church is located in the area where the Haitian government has donated land to displaced earthquake victims.  The people have named this settlement Canaan....just like the land the Lord promised to Abraham...See Gen 17:8.

The church is currently meeting in a tent, but they have started to build a structure on the property that will soon house the church.  The visit was a surprise to the pastor but not to the Holy Spirit.  Our group had the privilege of singing and sharing testimony with the congregation.  It was truly "the Church", the Body of Christ, worshiping together and sharing the Hope we all have in Jesus.

Three water purification systems were also installed on this trip.  One at a government clinic, one at a church, and one at the residence of Esaie LaPointe.  Esaie works with LIF as an eye technician in Archaine, Haiti.  He also works with the Methodist church in Haiti and will be distributing water to the community and sharing the gospel.  We pray that many people will not only have better health through the clean water provided by these systems but that they will become clean spiritually through the "living water" that only comes from Jesus.  Join our team in praying that these systems are used as a tool to share the Gospel message with the lost.

Haiti Team Arrived Safely!!

Praise God!  The team arrived safely in Haiti on Tuesday afternoon (January 10th).

Pray for the LIF team as they serve in Haiti this week.  They have a busy schedule of installing water purification systems, conducting eye exams/distributing eyeglasses in the clinic and showing the "Jesus" video to a surrounding village.

Pray for the Haitians to see Jesus through the gift of clean water and restored.  We pray for the Holy Spirit to change hearts after hearing about HIS wonderful Love!

Check back for further updates and photos as they become available!

Praise God for HIS Abundant Grace and Mercy

We are praising God in this season of the birth of our Savior for HIS abundant blessings throughout the year.  We look forward with wondrous anticipation to what the Lord has in store for us in the coming new year.

We have a busy travel schedule in the first half of 2012 with trips to Haiti in January, April, and July, as well as a trip to Cuba in March.  Keep up with the current schedule on our website at http://www.livinginfaith.net/trips or "Like Us" on Facebook.
Please continue to pray for us and our ministry to reach the hurting and lost in this world by providing clean water, improved vision, and food for the body as well as the soul.  May each act bring the light of Jesus into people's hearts and draw them into a close relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Team returns from Cuba

Praise God!!   The Living in Faith team had a wonderful trip to Cuba.
Thank you for your prayers, the team felt each and every one.  Angels were ahead of them guiding their path as the team traveled.  Three water systems were installed.  Two at churches and the third at a Christian Retreat center.  These systems will not only provide the opportunity clean drinking water but they will also provide an opportunity for the Christians to tell others about the "living water" that only comes from Jesus.

We look forward to returning to Cuba in March.  Pray about traveling with us.  Trip dates are March 17-24, 2012.

Look for more photos and video from Cuba soon!
